THE
MEGADOOR CONCEPT
The customer
needs Megadoors are designed for customers with special industrial environments
where doors are exposed to moisture, cold and dust or where the door opening is
very large. Megadoor is an electrically operated vertical folding door consisting
of double vinyl-coated polyester sheets with extruded aluminium beams inbetween.
Megadoor is an increasingly popular door concept in a variety of industry like
timber drying kilns, steel and melting industry, mineral processing, fish markets,
shipyard docks, aircraft hangars and more.
Basic
construction The Megadoor is built to last! Its unique design features
two panels or curtains of vinyl-coated, polyester fabric supported by horizontal,
extruded aluminium beams. The door is constructed with solid, heavy duty and corrosion
resistant components, and the reliable electric system includes sealed motors
to prevent dirt and dust infiltration.
Function The Megadoor glides up and down in weather-sealed vertical
guides which are attached to the structure and operates by lifting the bottom
beam upwards, thereby stacking the intermediate beams one on top of the other,
with fabric folds on both sides. Opening and closing speed is dependent on model
and varies between 0,2 and 0,6 m/s. The Megadoor is designed with very few moving
parts and requires little or no maintenance. It is particularly applicable to
satisfy heavy wind load requirements, since, due to the unique design, the horizontal
beams transfer the windload to the vertical guides and the structure. The door
can therefore be designed to withstand virtually any windload by varying the size
and spacing of the beams.
